Thursday Thirteen # 9

I had to drop off a note the other day for the mother of one of The Daughter’s new friends. Leaving The Family waiting in the car, I walked up the path to their front door, and looked for the letterbox in the door to put the note through.

You can imagine my irrititation when I hear “Mum! Mum” and the horn starts beeping. You’d think they could be a little patient, right? The voices get louder and louder but I ignore them as I’m still looking all over for the damn letterbox.

I start thinking that maybe the post man leaves their letters on the doormat for them, but as there’s nothing there now, I’m really not sure about it. I decide to leave my note by the front door anyway. It’s only when I turn around, I see The Family Waving Wildly at the end of the driveway and pointing furiously at this:

I have a lot to learn.

Since then I’ve had this fascination for mailboxes and am always yelling ‘Stop the Car’ so that I can get a picture of one; so here are 13 more from New York for my T13 this week..

Great photos! My favorite is the one with the hot air balloons. I live in Albuquerque NM for couple of years, and loved going to the Ballon Fiesta.

Happy TT!

What fun. Living in an apartment building we dont have interesting or attractive mailboxes .. just regulation Post Office wall units with a designated slot to put your name!

I love looking at mail boxes! We don’t own our house, so we don’t buy a cool one. Ours is unfortunately standard white fare, dangling by a single screw at the moment. DH is fixing it, thank goodness. :-)

Some people really do get creative, don’t they? That reminds me I should get a new one as ours is really old and rusty. Thanks for stopping by today and leaving me a note about Prague.

I like the one that was all bricked in it looks great

Happy TT

The florals aren’t really my thing but I love that triangular wooden one.

People can sure be creative can’t they? Our mailbox is extremely mundane– It doesn’t even have our name on it, because Hubby doesn’t want anyone but the mailman to know…!

I like mailboxes that look like other things - like a boat or a house. When I was a kid, we lived in the country and ours was full of bulletholes. There was always some scary wasp or spider hiding in there with the mail. Yikes!

I enjoyed your list.

Those are all very attractive but some of them look very insecure. As though just anyone could open them and take the mail. Yes, I miss a letterbox in the front door too.

What a cool idea. I loved looking at your mailbox pictures.

Wow! The folks around you are super creative with their mailboxes! Great idea for a Thursday Thirteen!
